How do I sell my car to get the most money?

A few hours work can mean a LOT of extra money.For selling the car I'd list it on craigslist and then meet potential buyers in a public place like a supermarket parking lot. Don't get in the car with them to test drive, instead ask for their driver's license to hold while they drive around. If you make the sale then meet the buyer in your bank and deposit the money immediately. For extra protection you can have them sign a bill of sale as well as the title, you can find a printable one online that says very specifically that you aren't making any claims about the vehicle or warrantying it against stuff and all that legal stuff. I've never heard of someone being sued for selling a car that breaks, but I'm up in WI and maybe the laws down there are different.good luck!...Show more

Erica Bottaro: You can take it to local dealership and see what they would give you right off the bat. You can also post ! it on Craigslist. You can also pay a few dollars to a mechanic and have the car sit in his lot for some time with a for sale sign, I have a friend who actually had a number of prospective buyers like that. Good luck.
