Karie Mavle: I looked it up, and while it's not illegal to put the carseat in the front seat, it is dangerous since the truck has airbags.
Marty Tichnell: Well the air bag thing would scare me more than make me feel safe..Airbags can really injure if not kill a person if that person is not at the correct height.Best thing to do is, make sure the seat is slid all the way back making it furthest from the air bag.I know this is a one time thing, and you're sick. And Im sure your FIL is being extra careful, dont beat yourself up about it....Show more
Collin Pelfrey: Airbags can be deadly to infants in rear-facing carseats, and to children 12 and under using the seatbelts. The front seat is generally not recommended for children 12 and under. The airbag MUST be disabled if you must use a rear-facing child seat in the front. Some vehicles without a rear seat, especially pickup trucks, have an on/off switch for this purpose. If a child must ride in the front, you! should also move the front seat as far back as it will go. Please only consider a front seat if no other option is available....Show more
Tyree Allenbrand: Yes, as a Texas resident. However, you need to make SURE the airbag is OFF.
Dalia Causby: I know that here in VA, a car seat can be legally put in the front seat, but *only* if there are no airbags or the airbag for that seat can be turned off. I did my research on it because he likes to ride in the front seat of my stepdad's truck. (In his car seat, of course)I do believe it varies from state to state though - call your local department of fire and rescue and they can confirm the laws in TX....Show more
Hai Biggart: As long as he disarms the air bag she should be fine, My husband has a truck like this and put m y daughter in one with a front facing car seat. Never had any problems.
Gladys Worthing: I believe that if that is the way that the vehicle is manufactured that it is legal, but it doe! s vary from state to state
Eli Trapeni: complex aspect. ! seek into yahoo. it can help!
Jonelle Eligio: I have been in the same situation. My husband only has a 2 seat truck and on occasion we have no choice but for him to take a child somewhere. We make sure the air bug is disabled whenever one of the kids is with him. Of course ultimately they would still be safer if they weren't in the truck at all, but here (wyoming) it isn't illegal, not sure on Texas though.
Warren Kotter: I did not read what other people wrote but I can say with absolute certainty that YES a child can ride in the front seat of a vehicle that there is no backseat. I do not believe that it varies from state to state. Otherwise what would a family who has a 2 seater truck as an only option do? * I know you are worried, but remember~ when we were children car seats had just been invented and were not mandatory. I am not even sure my mom put me in one- she held me in the front seat. Also, Britney Spears' son is fine after his excursion in the fr! ont seat with her (lol scratch the last comment)....Show more
