Brian Marquina: It's not vegan. Use nothing derived from milk or anything else from animals.
Todd Stogner: I'm really not thrilled with vegan cheeses overall, but it depends on what you're looking for. I haven't found anything with a good enough texture and taste to slice and put on a cracker, but there are a couple of mozzarellas that will melt in the oven and make a pretty good pizza. Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet is the easiest to find (Whole Foods carries it) and it's alright for that. Teese is a newer one that, in most areas, is only available by mail order. It melts really nicely and tastes a bit more like the real thing thant he FYH does. They are also working on a cheddar (and on getting into more stores.) But, for the most part, I'm just living without cheese. It's been 10 months and it was far easier to give up than I ever dreamed....Show more
Clifford Riggleman: It is not technically vegan then. Milk protein comes from milk, obviously.
Fra! nk Crummell: Milk protein is just part of the milk. It doesn't contain all of the milk, but it's still a milk product, so it's not vegan. The ingredient listed was probably casein, which you have to watch out for, because companies can claim their items are "dairy free" even if they have casein, since lactose intolerant people can still eat casein.
Ermelinda Stalnaker: no its not vegan.it does have milk in it... you said it right there, dried skim MILK protein = milk ingredients.milk ingredients= casein, whey, lactose, skim/whole/fat free milk...
