Kris Otuafi: Make a canister by covering the outside with paper, fabric, Kraft paper, or something similar. Affix a label to the front if you desire. Protect the surface with spray craft varnish or brush-on craft varnish. I keep coffee-making paraphernalia in mine--a bag of ground coffee, a measuring scoop, and the filter. You could make one or a set and store anything dry.Simple but handy: Poke a smooth hole in the top, insert a large skein of yarn and feed the end through the hole. It keeps your yarn in one place.Cradle for a baby doll or a cat. Measure down 1/3 from the open end and make a mark. Extend the mark 1/3 the way around the circumference. At the other end, place corresponding marks. Then remove the section that's 1/3 of the circumference by cutting on the marks. Put the lid back into the open end. That leaves a cradle shape with a "canopy" over the lidded end. Put padding in the bottom or a piece of cardboard that provides a "mattress base." The add! the bedding and the doll. A cat will add himself. Here are web sites with more ideas:http://www.marthastewart.com/264116/container-craf...http://www.examiner.com/article/let-quaker-oats-br...http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/oatmeal/http://www.artistshelpingchildren.org/oatmealconta...http://www.ehow.com/info_8194209_crafts-round-oatm...Or search for "oatmeal container crafts."
