How does denying an education to illegal immigrants help out the U.S.?

Raul Tllo: They should be heading for a worker's paradise like ... Cuba. Free education. Free medical. Guaranteed employment. Sure sounds a lot better than the evil racist United States.

Virgil Menefee: You know as well as everyone that schools with a high rate of illegals, have a low GPA, and a high rate of drop outs. Once again, you would put the rights of citizens behind the illegals who have no legal right to be in this country. The illegals need to go to their countries of origin so that we can educate our children properly so they have a chance to become productive citizens.Edit: On a scoring system of 0-10 most LA. schools score an average of 5 and below. The school I attended in upstate N.Y. is scored at 7.5,and most years they score a solid 9. That area of N.Y. has 0 illegal immigrants. The end result of illegals putting their children in our school systems is stretching the resources to the breaking point, and denying our children the quality education! that is their birth right....Show more

Rodolfo Merel: In my humble opinion, illegal immigrants should be denied everything and anything in the U. S. They are here illegally and depriving hard working, tax paying, educated citizens of their rights and benefits. Illegal immigrants are just that--illegal. Would seem to me any educated person would know and understand that fact.

Theresia Fashaw: Thats wrong- It doesnt help the US. It gives it a bad name, also

Mitchel Demry: It sure helps the taxpayers. Most drop out in high school so apparently they don't want an education. Many socialists believe socialism requires a slave underclass.

Theresia Fashaw: we do not want to keep them period! they should not be here so an education would not be a problem. go back where they belong and get educated, our educational system is for the children of American citizens! how does sucking the life out of the educational system help us, why are Cal. schools going und! er and begging for money, because too many illegals and anchor! babies are enrolled in schools they should not be!

Dick Baumgarten: They are.. are criminals in our society because they did not obey the law upon entry to this country. Why in the world would we want to get close to the idea of educating them? They will be returning to their own country soon.Further... CSI has suggested illegal aliens would cost some 29 billion a year if provided amnesty. Providing amnesty, which would enable them to go to school, would cause the burden to increase.BUT.... there is a significant point to this story that has not been discussed... of course.========================================The High Cost of Cheap LaborIllegal Immigration and the Federal Budgethttp://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.htmlIf illegal aliens were given amnesty and began to pay taxes and use services like households headed by legal immigrants with the same education levels, the estimated annual net fiscal deficit would increase from $2,700 per household to near! ly $7,700, for a total net cost of $29 billion.==================================In 2002, which is when the basis for this cost projection was made, the illegal aliens were not listed as illegal aliens, and in fact, one of the big fights in those days was getting the Federal Government under Bush to cost account for those illegal aliens in our society. In those days, the illegal aliens were listed as 'White".. and the term Hispanic was never used. It would be a guess, but most of the information related to illegal aliens was used to determine "White" costs on the society.... not the cost of the illegal aliens.More recently, the States looked at the issue much more closely. They found countless errors, a huge amount of fraud, and a huge amount of money that was moving into their hands, unaccounted for. Oklahoma was the first to put a stop to it, and did so as they cross referenced the fake I.D.s. Arizona was second and more trouble of the same sort.Today.. right now.. w! e still don't know how much they cost, but there have been estimates at! 480 billion a year coming out of the GAO.To speak specifically to this question: they are going home and it would be a terrible waste of money. We need that for our own children. Because they are going home, they will move from the bottom in this country, to the top in Mexico and that is great.. but they are .....are going home....Show more

Indira Wassell: If you are proposing to educate them in the U.S. there are 2 glaring problems. 1) The U.S. has a horrible school system that produces a 38% drop out rate. 2) If you interject more students into already crowded classrooms the former statistic goes up, obviously if they are illegal they aren't paying property taxes to offset the strain on the system. So you wouldn't be receiving more educated people, you would further dilute the education.

Lucien Hellerman: It opens up a spot for someone who is here legally to attend college. Or if you are speaking of public schools (k-12) it allows more money to be spent o! n each child that is here legally.

An Cardine: Of course, if we keep them thinking they are the worst of society, they will be happy receiving the worst services, the worst education, doing the worst jobs. Moreover, people hiring them would stop getting benefits from it!Remember, the US is the most powerful country in the world, and just as it spends billions of dollars in wars, it could spend them securing its borders. Why will that never happen?? Because illegal immigration is a business, it produces extremely good profits, and those getting the benefits from it will not make it stop. As far as it keeps on producing, it will keep on happening. Same goes for drugs and any other existent illegal activity you can think of. As far as they produce gains, they will be there....Show more

Boyce Gilhooly: Well you keep telling us that they are only doing the jobs Americans won't do like picking fruit and cleaning toilets! Last I checked you don't need an education to d! o that! Plus why waste money on criminals who need to get their sorry l! ow life @sses drop kicked back to their countries of origin. Educating them is a waste of taxpayers money which could be used to send the low life criminals back where they belong!

Madlyn Fallis: Money wasted educating Illegal Aliens is money that will never be seen again. So, if we don't waste time, money, and effort educating Illegal Aliens, then we have more to spend on citizens and legal residents. That's how it helps. Why waste money educating Illegal Aliens, when citizens and legal residents need that education? And by the way, illegal aliens are not denied an education, they can get that in their country of origin....Show more

Hunter Osterberger: well i really don't see why we are denying them higher education. the supreme court has already ruled in 1982 during Plyler vs Doe, that it is unconstitutional to deny any individual education under the Equal Protection Clause. Though undocumented children are not citizens of the United States or Texas, are people ! "in any ordinary sense of the term" and, therefore, are afforded Fourteenth Amendment protections.people keep saying that these children should not receive education because they're parents violated the laws. but by saying this they are in turn violating the standing ruling of the supreme court. if they don't like it, then be my guest and attempt to appeal it. yes some drop out of high school, but the number would go down if we allowed them to go on to college instead of leaving them in the dust at 18. and still not all of them drop out, and are in college now, (in one of the 10 states that does allow them to go) paying out of state tuition, with no financail aid. those kids deserve to be legalized. support the DREAM act 2009!!!...Show more

Karey Dunken: There are only so many seats available, and government funding is available because taxpayers pay taxes and fund them. An illegal immigrant is not an American, and should not receive American benefits. Educating them ! is not benefiting the US, it is making it harder for American citizen c! hildren to get an adequate education. There are also student who are willing to file for student visas. Illegals should not benefits over them either. The drop out rate among illegals is higher than natives. If they want an education let them go home and get one. And then they can benefit their own country, and not be "at the bottom of the totem pole" over here.Rlstraehl is right; schools that have a high enrollment of children here illegally, and anchor babies have VERY LOW stanin scores, and are under performing....Show more

Dick Baumgarten: It saves taxpayers money. And it makes life for illegals more difficult encouraging them to return to their countries.

Brittney Inabnit: The cost to taxpayers is well over a staggering $10,000 per kid per year average in this country.Illegals are far more costly and probably cost taxpayers about $15-20,000 (and way up) a year. They get ESL instruction, free breakfast, free lunch and many other goodies for free. Since no ille! gal parent in this country pays enough in taxes to even support one child they are a huge burden on the rest of us. Morally they should all self-deport but since illegals have few morals that is unlikely. What is more likely is that they will be forced out as the public becomes more aware of the costs and abuses.TONY - If we say yes to education for illegals why wouldn't we also say yes to educating 2-3 BILLION other children in the world????Their lives are far worse and they would probably be more appreciative!!...Show more
