Garry Ohmen: 1 semester abroad won't make you fluent - not even close, especially if you've only had a year or two of college-level Arabic.That said, studying abroad will certainly help your language abilities and most people consider it to be a lot of fun as well.As long as you are careful about the program and location, I wouldn't worry about overly negative experiences. Like Americans, most people of other nationalities are friendly and open to learning new things about other cultures.
