Anibal Katayama: Income tax; a more flatter, but somehow more progressive one. Since it's poorer volk like me whom have to use the most of whatever money I make from work just to buy the necessaries of life anyways. Also because sales taxes tend to take away more percentage of income from the poorer members of our society than the super-rich idlers whom just live off their investments made by their ancestors 5 generations ago. Not everyone is smart enough to go to college U know!...Show more
Saran Stealy: Anyone with sufficient income to have a tax liability. What constitutes sufficient income depends upon the taxpayer's filing status and the source of their income. An infant with sufficient income pays income taxes.A teen who is a dependent in 2008 starts incurring a tax liability once their earned income from wages hits $5,450. If that same teen had only unearned income, he'd owe taxes once his unearned income hit $900. If their income was from self-employment,! liability would kick in at $400, so a successful lemonade stand that netted $500 would attract a liability for $14 in self-employment tax.A single taxpayer who is not a dependent would start owing income taxes once their income from wages exceeded $8,950 in 2008. The same $400 limit applies for self-employment income.Other amounts apply for other filing statuses. See IRS Pub 501 for a full discussion. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p501.pdf...Show more
Kandi Lough: single ,high income , no dependant people are the highest tax , you have to make over 3500 for it to be taxed
Rosalia Hibler: Go here. . . http://www.irs.gov/publications/p501/ar02.html#en_... its an IRS site.
Babette Deloe: Depends. You file a tax return to determine whether you owe any tax or get a refund of any tax withholding you had deducted from paycheck. Those children would have to be VERY successful in order to be required to file a tax return. More than $400 in self employment i! ncome and they're required to file. If the child is a depende! nt and has a summer job, they don't have to file until they make more than $5300, but may wish to do so to recover withholding.
