Did television lied to you while you were growing up?

Shaun Rapkowicz: I don't know but he would think that your quite obsessed with this dawkins guy

Benny Stehno: Why do most christians not celebrate passover and stuff? I mean, it is in our bible. I just don't understand why

Georgina Natal: When Jesus came, he FULFILLED the old testament. We now look forward to celebrating the new testament or another word for that would be covenant. With us having a new covenant through Jesus Christ, there are no old testament celebrations that would have as much meaning as allowing Christ our Savior, to run our lives on a daily basis.

Mitchell Pickens: No but the people on it do! I have an honest TV set however the programmers NBC,CBS,ABC are full of lies. Fox is better but still biased. Want truth look to Jesus Christ only one that never lied while on Earth.

Jasper Mangel: Good for you. Yes, TV lies. All actors are liars. All liars will burn in hell (Revelation 21:8).

Pamela Meno: Easter is our Passover! -equivalent; Christmas is our Channukah-equivalent. By and large, our celebrations are more related to cultural/secular traditions, instead of religious holidays. Some Christian churches acknowledge the traditional Jewish celebrations with special onservances, but we are not Jewish.

Anibal Scheid: Guido, is his left hand man and the enforcer!

Isaias Badgley: There are so many options out there now-a-days....I watch the digital channels where they have stuff like science, discovery channel, they even have religious channels for almost every different religion. So, you do not have to watch what the mainstream is showing you. That's all garbage and gossip and trends.Just watch stuff that is educational, cultural, artful, and any informational whether it is to learn how to cook, paint, speak another language, anything that will enhance your livelihood and entertain you without being totally ridiculous....Show more

Lionel Tanen: huh?>???

Wilmer Skidmore! : I really don't care for television much....

Blaine Con! nett: Colonel Sanders

Kaylee Schmittou: Matthew 16:4King James Version (KJV)4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Herma Ellebrecht: From the previous (lifeless) Blessed Virgin Mary Queen Elizabeth Marie Antoinette mom Teresa Idi Amin From the living present day (Alive) Hillary Clinton Sarah Palin Paris Hilton Pope Benedict XV! Osama bin encumbered

Karie Mavle: Because they were part of the Old Covenant. Jesus joined us to the New Covenant. If you read the Bible you will see that God made covenants with Adam, Abraham, Moses, David...and the most recent covenant was brought to us through Christ.

Ambrose Mumma: Jesus is still alive and He would Love Richard Dawkins, just like He loves everybody. Richard Dawkins will be judged like everyone else.

Lu Snide: You with a full plate of food

Adrian Paraz: Yes - people ar! e more polite on television. It sure surprised me too when Obama was elected HOW MUCH real dumb-sh*t racism there is left in this country!!! I'm sort of embarrassed actually. I know Obama can take it in stride though.

Buster Buchko: >Because they are OT observances. Since the OT has been fulfilled in the NT, Christians typically do not observe OT holidays.>The Passover of the OT is merely the prefigurement of the New Passover of the NT - Easter.>Is not the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord not also in the Bible? Therefore, Easter is in the Bible.

Ron Keliipio: well, the holidays of the old testament if you are speaking of religious they were of Hebrew in nature specifically for the Hebrew, or as said of the Hebrew the other were heathen in nature, the Catholics or christian did not exist during the time

Virgil Menefee: No TV and no beer make Superfuzz something something

Nancy Mansell: Damn, usually my questions haven't been asked yet. ! But this one came up in the similar questions box three times. I need t! o sharpen my skills.

Arlen Decorte: this doesn make sense, but not to you..and that's fine. Leave my question..

Lyman Gauld: You're awfully young to be so cynical.

Connie Dickirson: I'm agnostic and I don't watch it either. If I could afford cable, I might. History Channel, Discovery, and Nova. Shows for those whose IQs are in positive numbers. Commercial TV does not have anything like that. And "most people are now selfish, judgmental and close-minded"? Being a little judgmental ourselves, are we not? Cast the beam from thine own eye, dear.Blessings on your Journey!...Show more

Darnell Cutliff: Frequently. Television presents a warped consumerist Madison Avenue Hollywood version of reality. Should be taken in small does or not at all.

Hong Hunkin: Dawkins is poorly stating some thoughts that were already written by atheists before him. He has made it a point to blast religion, which is not really a problem except for his negativity to! wards religious people. Further he has not improved on Christian morality but taken some of the Christian morality and made it easier. Instead of loving those who hate you, you just have to be kind to those who are kind or indifferent to you. Further when he makes his claim of "survival of the fittest" leading to this, he has to take such a widing and twisted path and make so many assumptions that it is doubtful that his belief could stand up to as much criticism as has Christianity. Now while I have no doubt that Jesus would not like the current "Fundies", I have little doubt also that Jesus would think that Dawkins is a smart man that chooses to keep his eyes closed. One thing I am certain about, however, is that survival of the fittest does not lead to empathy for the weak. Only those who are religiously attached to their naturalistic views are willing to take that trip that Dawkins embarks on. Clearly he goes into some fairy tale type of thinking. One thing he certai! nly does not and cannot address is emotions. It is far simpler and mor! e consistent in terms of programming (note DNA is like computer code) to create decision trees that place value on the individual versus value for the group, then to create emotions....Show more

Natalya Sydney: You make the mistake in thinking Jesus was ever alive in the first place.

Ninfa Aronica: The Bible says that Jesus is at God's right hand. Of Jesus, Acts 2:33 says: "Therefore because he was exalted to the right hand of God and received the promised holy spirit from the Father, he has poured out this which you see and hear.Col. 3:1 says: "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God."...Show more

Ollie Hamiel: In the bible if I'm not mistaken, it would be goats(sinners) at my left of him and the lambs(believers) would sit to the right of him.

Antonette Shappy: The New Testament is filled with all the answers you need. Read some of Paul's letters to any of the churches(i.e Phi! lippians), it provides insight to what JESUS wanted the church to be and what he wanted the church to do

Nadia Crauswell: Originally, the Old Testament was a Jewish document. At the very beginning, Christians were Jewish, but more and more Gentiles became Christians. A council was held in Jerusalem in which it was decided that Gentiles did not have to become Jewish and be circumcised in order to become members of the Christian Church. Observance of Jewish holidays were also made non-compulsory. It may also have to do with the fact that the followers of Jesus were rejected from the synagogues, so the Church abandoned Jewish rules, customs, and traditions.

Bryan Avinger: Jesus is alive and He loves Richard. Richard lives on because there are no exceptions - Christ came to reveal abundant life. However, Richard's ideas were not in keeping with that. Though he lives on because God is that gracious, ideas contrary to who God is, as revealed in the Risen Christ, di! e into oblivion.

Vickie Sterbenz: I don't think he would like Ric! hard. Jesus is a religious guy and would think he is the best and everyone needs to listen to him. Religious people try to win your confidence without giving you any evidence. Jesus would be completely lossed in today's world of science and technology.I do think Jesus existed, but he was just an ordinary man.

Freeman Rutkin: Jesus brought a new law. Jewish Passover is our Holy Week.EASTER and the Resurrection ended Hebraic possession of Yahweh as chosen ones.

Jannette Kotz: Um television didn't lie its suppose to be entertainment (ie pure fantasy) to make us feel better at the end of a hard day. Its not real - unless you are watching a doco! BTW neither are movies ;)

Arlen Hamper: My Mother

Bryant Pillitteri: Well, the Gentile Christians never were in the practice of celebrating the Jewish holidays, and the Jewish converts just sort of fell away after while. Since the Gentile Christians held most of the power in the areas away from the Middle Eas! t/Turkey/Rome area, the practice wasn't in place. They started borrowing the celebrations of the local Pagan/Heathens that had recently converted or been conquered. They assigned Christian themes to the celebrations such as Christmas and Easter. When the Protestant Churches started, there were actually LAWS against celebrating any holiday in many areas for a very long time.

Andre Winegar: Honestly Buddha came to mind...I don't think sinister is so evil as some claim, I think to be sinister/left handed is the parity equivalent of the right hand, and is essential for symmetry, which is seen as mercy and beauty in this world, and in the next.I believe in Christ and Buddha both according to their manifold fruits. I am Baha'i.God bless....Show more

Chris Wilczewski: that makes two of us not watching tv....and the media is like man made weather.

Dick Ovdenk: I think he would have a favorable opinion. Richard has taken the core concepts of Jesus's message and! made them broadly applicable to people of other faiths and no faith. H! e has also improved on christian morality by showing why compassion and love are especially valuable when acknowledging the truths of evolution and natural selection. Jesus would not be in favor of his teachings being managed by an institution with political leanings either and I think Dawkins overcame that limitation successfully....Show more

Ramona Pago: Kali Maa

Valentine Willinger: An angel, I think. Gabriel? I think I've read that.EDIT: Okay, so obviously I thought wrong.

Tomi Vauters: I'm agnostic, but I used to think I was Christian and studied the Bible a lot. The answer to your question is YES - television lied a lot to everyone when I was growing up, which was long ago back in the 1950s and 1960s. And I think it lies to people a great deal today, also.To be fair, I don't think that the TV networks actualy lie about everything; I think there is some good information to be found there on the news programs, and some good values on some of the en! tertainment shows. I also think that in some ways, television portrays an ideal world that it would be good for us to live in -- a world where racism and injustice, especially, have mostly disappeared, and people of different races & classes are much more comfortable with each other than in real life. But on the negative side, TV is always trying to sell us something, since it is the advertisers who make the whole broadcast industry profitable in the end -- unless you're only watching listener-supported PBS station. In order to sell us things, TV advertisers sometimes appeal to our very worst instincts -- for example, selfishness & gluttony -- while misrepresenting the nature of particular products (for example, fast food products loaded with sugar & fat). Then in the entertainment programming, television does at least 2 things that grossly distort our sense of our own society. First, almost everybody on TV is richer, better looking & living in a nicer house with a more ex! pensive car than millions of Americans can afford in real life.Secondly! , there's an unbelievable amount of shooting & killing & other kinds of violence that happens regularly on TV, and this gives us a very exaggerated sense of how much shooting & violence actually happens in American society. It isn't that in the real world, American society is totally peaceful, but when we watch TV, we get a totally unrealistic sense of how likely people are to pull guns on other people. We obviously also get a pretty distorted idea of how often real Americans encounter ghosts, aliens, CIA and FBI agents and people with psychic powers. I think not watching TV at all is probably a good idea. If you want to get a sense of what the world is really like, you need to talk to real people & live among them. Reading some non-fiction books and some good newspapers & magazines also wouldn't hurt....Show more

Mozell Sponsler: Yes, the TV lied to me all the time I was growing up. It would say "dinosaurs lived miiiiillllllliiiioooons of yeeeeeaaaarrrs ago" or ! the Earth is "biiiiiilllllliiiiiioooooons of yeeeeeeaaaaars old". Yeah right! They were there when it was created, so I guess they would know, right?I also no longer use a TV. We no longer have one in our house, because we don't need it. 99.99% of the junk on TV is liberal brainwashing and is complete garbage. You're better off without it....Show more

Rodolfo Merel: Jesus IS alive - he died on the cross, but was resurrected after 3 days. It was his actual physical body that was raised.

Russel Gajate: We do celebrate some of them, but most of them we dont because we are not Jewish.

Phillip Modafferi: Jesus would be more proud of Richard Dawkins if Dawkins actually were applying the truths of science to the right situtations. There is no conflict between Christianity and science, but there is misinterpretted scripture and misapplied theories.

Marcelle Vanlith: Wait.... are you trying to tell me that the Kool-aide man isn't going to bust through my wa! ll. Nonesence

Lissette Semon: Jesus sits at the right hand of hi! s father not left.

Spencer Heidtbrink: No, I mainly watch shows with angels or guardian angels in them particularly if they have cute baby angels with little cute wings and wearing little white socks.
