Degree in philosophy?

Mel Crapo: There aren't any real "career opportunities" with solely a degree in Philosophy at the undergraduate level. The discipline doesn't get the respect it deserves in the job market because employers aren't all that knowledgeable on the subject and thus tend to misconstrue its merits. Students in philosophy have been known to be able to think critically and analytically which are skills every employer wants, but this isn't as understood as it should be. Florencia Manolakis: You'd need a PhD to teach it at the college level, and there are far more people with PhDs in philosophy than there are jobs for them. Many people major in it before going to law school, but on it's own it's not useful for anything in particular. It would be considered a general college degree.
